Keyboard Wedge: These devices plug into the keyboard port on the computer, and the keyboard then

plugs into or in-line with the device. Keyboard wedge devices include barcode scanners, MSR’s and MICR

readers. These devices usually require configuration with a manufactures program or by pressing complex

keystrokes on the keyboard. Most keyboard wedge devices are also powered by the keyboard. Usually only

2 or 3 devices may be chained together due to the power requirements.
